Work - Dance Studio TOP

Lululemon Design

During my practicum placement with Lululemon, I was assigned the task of developing a new top design for the company. As an avid dancer and fan of the company’s “dance studio pants”, I drew inspiration from dance to create a complimentary garment for one of their popular pant styles; thus, filling a gap in their product offerings.

For this project, I began with competitor and designer brands research and forecasting, then I developed my design through creating a mood board and ideating various top options. Once my final design was determined, I pattern drafted and 3D modeled it in CLO3D, sewed a physical prototype, created a technical package and measurement sheet for it, and presented it to my managers.

OSF Competition

Gaia Jacket

Following the theme "Gaia" for the Our Social Fabric Design Competition 2024, I created a piece inspired by straight jackets called the Gaia Jacket meant to symbolize the beauty of nature's interconnectedness, as well as the detrimental impact that human imposition can have on the world's natural system.

The process involved three parts: conceptualization, garment creation, and concept video creation. After developing the Gaia jacket through a mood board, mind map, and concept sketching, the final design was drafted, prototyped, fitted, and sewn. A video was then created to showcase the jacket’s full process and meaning.

jade mcbride

a/w 24” Collection

Jade McBride is a designer label created by Heidi Wilson as an avenue for creating boldly feminine garments that empower women.

Inspired by Gilded Age fashion and society, the Jade McBride A/W 24 collection reinterprets historical trends with a modern twist, conveying themes of historical society juxtaposed with a renewed sense of contemporary punk and style.

Heidi Wilson designed and created this collection from scratch and debuted it at Kelowna Fashion Weekend 2024.

Technical

hiking jacket

This technical hiking jacket was designed to support women through various hiking adventures, from light day hiking to casual backpacking. This design draws from industry-leading brands and caters to hikers’ needs through features like strategic pockets, waterproofing, and articulation.

To begin this project, extensive research was done on current technical jackets from various brands in the industry. After the preliminary research, the jacket was pattern drafted, modelled in CLO3D to check and adjust the fit, and sewed following standard technical garment sewing techniques. A comprehensive tech pack and costing sheet were made as well.

a/w 24/25 childrenswear collection

Wild Sprouts is a children’s outerwear collection for Autumn/Winter 24/25. Designed for children between the ages of two to seven who come from active, nature-loving families, Wild Sprouts provides fun, whimsical, and functional clothing for various outdoor activities.

This line began with researching the North American childrenswear industry and developing a target market profile. This research then shaped the design process, allowing for the final collection to be innovative, purposeful, and marketable.

S/s 26 womenswear forecast

Liminal-Realm is a womenswear forecast for Spring/Summer ‘26 that follows the same general format used by the forecasting site, WGSN.

This research-based forecast was developed through the analysis of STEPIC factors - social, technological, environmental/economic, political, industrial, and cultural.

This project showcases the influence that STEPIC factors have on consumer decisions and how society shapes trend predictions.

Knit Top Technical Package

This project involved designing, drafting, and sewing a knit top for a Style Production course - first, a prototype was made, then a fitting was performed and the pattern was adjusted to create the final top.

The completed garment was used to make a technical package consisting of style cards, a bill of materials, measurement sheets, and fit revision sheets.

S/S ‘24 Print Collection

From the initial mood board, several prints, weaves, and knits were designed, featuring inspirations from natural textures to suit an outdoorsy target market. All design work was formatted in technical packages and was compiled into a final collection board.

Inspired by the natural world and organic textures, This print collection includes various patterns and textile designs created for a yoga/activewear line.
